Chronic headache disorders in childhood and adolescents

 

Prof. Valeriani directs the Pediatric Neurology Ward in Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital. He deals also with clinical neurophysiology, with a particular interest on somatosensory and nociceptive evoked potentials, and pediatric headaches and pain. In 2014, he obtained the National Scientific Qualification for Associate Professor in both Neurology and Infantile Neuropsychiatry.  From 2006 to 2013, Prof. Valeriani was part of the Editorial Board of Clinical Neurophysiology, official journal of the International Federation of Clinical Neurophysiology. As from 2017, he is Associate Editor of BMC Neurology.  As from 2018, he is Associate Editor of Frontiers in Neurology. As from 2018, he is Associate Editor of Pain Research and Management. As form 2018 he is part of the Advisory Board of Neurological Sciences, official journal of the Italian Society of Neurology.  He is part of the Editorial Board of Open Anesthesiology Journal and Open Pain Journal. He worked as reviewer for international journals, such as Neurology, Journal of Neuroscience, NeuroImage, Cephalalgia, Headache, Brain, Cerebral Cortex, Journal of Neurophysiology, Experimental Brain Research, Muscle & Nerve, Brain Research, European Journal of Neuroscience, European Journal of Neurology, Psychiatry Research, European Journal of Pain. As from 2013, prof. Valeriani is member of the Board of the Italian Society of Psychophysiology and as from November 2017 he is Elected President. From January 2013 to December 2017, he was coordinator of the “Neuroscience and Pain” scientific group of the Italian Society of Neurology.  As from 2016, he is coordinator of the South-Central Section of the Italian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology.  From 2009 to 2014, he was coordinator of the “Clinical neurophysiology of migraine and primary headaches” scientific group of the Italian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology.  From 2008 to 2012, he was part of the Board of the Italian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology. From 2007 to 2011, he was secretary of the local section of the Italian Society of Headaches.  As form 1995 he is member of the Italian Society of Clinical Neurophysiology (SINC). As from 2003, he is member of the Italian Society of Headaches (SISC). As from 2011, he is member of the Italian Society of Psychophysiology (SIPF).  As from 2013, he is member of the Italian Society of Neurology (SIN).  As from 2015, prof. Valeriani is member of the Italian Association for the Study of Pain.
